This is the second workshop opportunity for CIWW members to mix wood finishes under the guidance of brewmaster Mick Keller. It’s a chance to realize big savings, mix your own finish, and enjoy the company of fellow woodworkers.
(Note: This is a waitlist repeat of the original Home Brew workshop held on May 3rd. Slots not taken by members on the original waitlist list are now open for registration by all CIWW members.)
Take home your results with the knowledge to make more.
Mick’s demonstrations will cover three brews:
Wood Butter– a blend cooked in a double boiler or microwave. Butter your boards, just don’t eat them!
Hand-rubbed Satin Polyurethane
“Delly Juice” – French polish named after Mike Dellekamp, recently departed CIWW member.
Participants can mix each brew, then test it at home on a variety of wood species. Home brewing your finishes can save approximately 50% off the cost of commercial brands.
This workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17th from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at the McNeely Memorial Shop.(10765 E. 121st St., Fishers, IN)
Enrollment is limited to six CIWW members. Registration is required, but no fees will be charged for this workshop. Bring wrap-around safety glasses and three glass containers with 4 to 6 fluid ounce capacities and lids that seal tightly/securely.
For questions about registration and facilities contact Jim Wallihan, Workshops Coordinator, at wallihan@iu.edu or 317-283-6931 (houseline). Call Mick Keller at mkeller02@comcast.net with questions about the workshop subject and process.
There will be more Home Brew workshops at different times continuing into the Fall and Winter months. Preference goes to members not previously enrolled in this event. If you attended the May 3rd event, please wait until the last 24 hours before this June 17th workshop to sign up, assuming there are still slots available.
