For our monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 20th**, CIWW will be hosting its first ever Hidden Compartment Challenge. This is a contest that asks members to create an object which contains a hidden compartment.
The object can be a simple box, a music box, a desk or desk drawer, a wall mirror, a vase, table, picture frame, book, cross, or whatever you can think of to conceal something. Members can incorporate the compartment into a lathe turning, carving, scroll work or furniture. Use of CNC, 3D printing and metal working may be used to manufacture the hidden compartment.
Members are asked to submit a sketch of the idea, as well as the final object with the engineered mechanism that will actually open the hidden compartment. The goal of this challenge is to encourage members to design something that reflects Creativity, Ingenuity and Workmanship (quality of the end product).
Members will be the judges for this contest. Upon arrival, everyone will receive a single ticket to use for voting. After challenge participants have shown their entry, members will be asked to place their vote ticket in the cup beside their top choice. Once tallied up, the top vote getter will receive Rockler gift cards for their reward.

**Starting this month, we will be opening our doors one hour early to give members more time to socialize before the actual meeting begins. Food and drinks will be available. Bring a friend, an appetite, and join us at 6:00 PM for this extra time with fellow woodworkers.
